In the Cambodian city of Phnom Penh stands a compound that once served as a high school. During the bloody rule of the Khmer Rouge, it was a prison where 17,000 men, women, and children were incarcerated, and only 4 emerged alive.

The Khmer Rouge required that the prison staff made a detailed dossier for each prisoner, included in the documentation was a photograph.

In 1979, the prison was uncovered by the invading Vietnamese army. In 1980, the prison was reopened by the government of the People's Republic of Kampuchea as a historical museum documenting the horrific actions of the Khmer Rouge regime.

The museum attracts visitors from around the world, it also attracts the new generation of Khmer; hungry children, playful and keen to practice their english 'one, two, three smile' and 'you give me dollar?' are some of the more common phrases to be heard.

The following images were taken through teary eyes, a camera held tight to my face as i tried to comprehend the attrocities which took place here...........
